Gaming [22 Jan 2009|11:13pm]
Played 2.5 hours of Warhammer Online..

Other games I'm playing online right now:

Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wii
Super Mario Kart Wii - Wii
Left 4 Dead - Xbox360
Gears of War 2 - Xbox360

Jazz Band and Concert Band start up again on Tuesday.. I always (dread/look forward to) it. More like, I dread the time it takes away from my schedule, and I'm always hungry and tired after work.

Oh, and if you haven't seen the movie "El Topo", i would highly recommend it. It is one of the worst/weirdest/most pretentious surrealistic movies I've ever seen!  Here's the trailer.

First post of the New Year [21 Jan 2009|09:36pm]
Its been several months since my last post, so here's an update on everything that's happened lately.

1. I ran a half marathon in 2 hours 15 minutes.
2. Liz visited in August, November, and then for 2.5 weeks in December/January.
3. Liz and I started Dating. (facebook outed us)
4. I lost almost 50% of a mutual fund I've been investing in due to the bad economy.
5. I got a new manager at work (Dan).. Then I got another one and our teams split up. (Kris)

New Year's Resolutions (in no specific order)

1) Lose weight (25 lbs).
2) Keep in better touch with my long distance friends.
3) Do everything I can to help Liz find a job in San Antonio.
4) Get better organized (in general)

I'm starting my workout schedule again, but my endurance has decreased a lot since the marathon. Also, I'm so hungry after the workouts, it makes it difficult to lose weight even when I work out a lot.

Liz flew in on Christmas day and stayed for a couple of weeks. Possibly the best two week's that have ever happened in history.. (^_^) Some of the highlights were:

1) We went to go see Cats the day after Christmas and walked around the riverwalk/downtown with my new GPS (So we wouldn't get lost)
2) Karaoke with just Liz and I.
3) New Years Eve with my friends
4) Our awesome zoo date.
5) XMAS day. (Liz got me a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 rubiks cube, an incredible hulk t-shirt autographed by Lou Ferrigno, and a bunch of other awesome stuff! Greatest gift evar!!!)

As always, a nice and random journal entry...

60 points Never again!! [09 Jun 2008|10:45pm]
[ mood | content ]

I made a bet with a friend at work that he would never get 60 points again in Mario Kart. So, I'm in training. I'm trying to beat every level with a gold trophy and a star rating. I'm using time trials, short cuts, and all of the tricks to get the win. *play Rocky montage music*

Here's a random fact.. Did you know that it is 8 calendar days between Wednesday and Wednesday? Enterprise rent-a-car notified me of its existence and charged me for an extra day. I guess I understand the logic, but I still feel cheated somehow. Also, the guy who told me looked like a used car salesman. (and he probably is one part time)

My 1/2 Marathon training is going well, but not really progressing. I'm still doing around 6 miles 2 times a week. I'd like to add a 3rd day where I increase the incline. I just know that when the time comes for me to actually run it, I'm gonna die as soon as there is a hill. Also, a 1/2 marathon is a little more than 13 miles. So, I still have a long ways to go. Luckily, it isn't until November.

I just got an email about my 10 year High School reunion the other day. God, that makes me feel old. Maybe I need to grow my hair out even longer than it is, dye it green, and play a lot of Pokemon in order to feel younger... Either that or just rent "Land Before Time". That's better.. and it won't get me fired from work!

Well, My alarm-clock is set for 6.5 hours from now. Time to attempt some sleep. *pats the alarm-clock* good luck little guy, you're gonna need it.

Super Mario Kart Wii Random Post [28 May 2008|11:21pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Wow.. My last post was a year and a half ago! Super Mario Kart Wii is way too much fun. I just got done playing it online with Ryan and John from work. Since there is no speech capabilities on the Wii, we improvised with Skype. Super Smash Bros Brawl is also super fun, although it seems frustrate me to no end and at the same time bring out the worst in me while I'm playing it.

I've had a rental car for a week because I managed to hit a pole with my car. If only inanimate objects would stay away! So, the rental is a really nice car. Its a 2008 Volkswagen Pasat, which is a fun 10 years younger than my car. Still, I can't wait to get my car back. (Mostly because of the cost of the having my car in the shop) My deductible is $500 plus the rental = money will be tight this month.

I need a vacation. Maybe I should plan something then!

If the Spurs lose one more game, they will be out of the playoffs..

It's too hard to lose weight...

The Palladium is pretty neat! [26 Jan 2007|05:36pm]
Its a new theatre in San Antonio. I saw an awesome movie called Pan's Labyrinth. I would recommend it to all of my friends!

This weekend
I'm completely booked for this weekend with things to do. Saturday, I'm building a computer for my friend Alfred, then installing a new operating system for my friend Preston after that. If there is still time, I hope to go over to Sara's apt and help her move to her new Apt. I also need to run the old cable modem to grande, make a trip to time warner, and pay all of my bills before Johnny "two fingers" McGee or George "Baby Face" Nelson break my knee caps asking "where is my money?" :-P

Tonight Andrew is coming over to hang out.. "We're just two guys and we're having a good time.. having a good time.. having a good time.." (if you don't know the reference, check it out!

I checked my mail today (for the first time in over 2 weeks) and they must have had to shove that mail in there with their foot. Cause it was reaaaaaly full.. and reaaaalllly crumpled.. but thats my fault for not checking it.. however, it wasn't my fault that half of the mail wasn't for me.

I've been renting a lot of TV at Blockbuster lately.. Especially CSI.. I think that I am addicted to that show now. (originally introduced to me by Marie-chama)

I think that I need to get a DVR.. VCR's are so yesterday.. Maybe while I'm at it, I should get HD cable.. I've never really seen HD on my HDTV, except on my XBox360.

American Idol.. I don't even know what to say about it... The show is not even worth watching until the semi finals i think.. (and many may argue that it is never worth watching) Its soooo bad right now.. I'm going to have to watch next week though.. Tuesday and Wednesday is the San Antonio auditions.. And no.. neither I or my friends made a fool of ourselves and auditioned.. hehe.

I've been playing a good amount of Halo 2 and Gears Of War online with friends. Fun stuff!

I've now been working at USAA for over a year now. Time goes by quickly.. I'm still an Apprentice, but that is no problem.. That just means that I am still an hourly employee. When you are an apprentice, you get overtime, and not much is expected of you! :-P I do have to admit, it would be nice to get promoted though.. I got an award for finishing another project.. Its like a plaque and a set of dog tags that say "For Excellence on the J2C project". It doesn't really feel like i even tried especially hard on this project. My response was kinda, "really? excellence?" Also, i probably won't move to another team until around July. I still have stuff to learn on this team.. And I haven't been on-call yet.

anywho.. thats it for now!!

Sunday, Boring Sunday [30 Jul 2006|08:05pm]
Actually, I rephrase that to relaxing Sunday..

Lots of stuff has happened in the last week. When I went over to my parents house on Monday, I told my dad to cancel the TV if they delay it again.. I had given upt all hope of ever getting it. The next day after I told him that, he calls me and tells me that it has arrived at his house!!

On Thursday, it was my mom's birthday. We went to Johnny Carino's (and I thought about Marie the whole time) hehe.. I had the Johnnys special, which turned out to be 2 extra meals after I had it boxed.. So much food! After dinner, my dad helped me install the new TV and my mom kept herself busy by cleaning my room up.. (I told her that she shouldn't clean my room, especially on her bday, but she insisted.) Now I have the TV set up as my monitor and TV.. A 26" HDTV/Monitor.. Its almost too big to be a monitor, but it is very clear.

This weekend, I kept myself very busy. I bought a HDTV antenna for my new TV on Friday. (It sucks though.. I'll return it this week sometime and get a better one.) On Friday, I hung out with Andrew, Preston, and En.. We ended up going to see A Scanner Darkly, which kinda confused me, but was good.. <-- I also fell asleep in it a little bit.. I paid for En's ticket because it was his B-Day. (Andrew didn't have any money, so I paid for his too.)

Saturday, I got a haircut and went to Alfred's to build his new computer. We went to eat lunch at Rolando's Super Taco first, which is always nostalgic for me. Then, I built his computer while watching the movie Mimbo in the background. I took my time, made sure I did everything right, and it worked the first time it booted! This is by far the best computer I've ever built.. So high-tech.. (I'm an IT guy and my computer is 4 years old or more) Ozzikun came over after that, and we hung out for a while.. Andrew came over and joined us after a while.. I tried to burn some DVDs for Ozzi, but it didn't work.. I think I need a new DVD burner for my desktop computer. ;_;....

Sunday, I slept till noon.. I popped in a dvd of Last Exile and watched the first 3 eps.. It was pretty good.. I started downloading some more stuff like that new Stephen King show, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Dead Zone, and some Yakitate Japan.. <-- I need to brush up on my Japanese, and what better way than to watch some anime! And thats about it!

I've been kinda stressed at work lately.. They gave me part of a project that I don't understand very well. I have been asking questions, but I don't want to ask too many, or they will think that I am dumb.. hehe.. Also, I am in class all next week (8am-5pm M-F) so I probably won't get much done in the way of the project.. I'll probably have to stay late every day to work on it.. Overtime.. (-_-) I should enjoy it while I still get paid for it.. When i get a promotion to associate, I become a salary worker.

I've been thinking of a lot of stuff lately.. I won't go into details what, but its been keeping me up at night. <-- not good for the sleep troubles I've already been having... I don't like getting up at 6am and being at work by 6:20am, but its probably good for me to actually go to the gym.. And I am doing it on a daily basis, so that is good too.. Dieting isn't an option right now, unless I can find something that doesn't lessen my energy and is easy to do.. I don't have enough energy or will power to manage my diet with anything like caloric counting, carb counting, or point counting right now..

random thought time

The kitchen is dirty and I not a single dish is mine..

I have a weird scrape under my left eye.. it stings and I don't know how it happened.

L'arc~en~Ciel is the best band to ever live..

My car is dirty, and I want to take it to the washtub, but i'm too lazy..

I'm addicted to Diet Soda..

Koala cookies are tasty.

My room is messy..

There is a rope on my ground..

Even with curtains being taped to my windows, light still gets in my room.

Another day for you and me in Paradise! [12 Jul 2006|09:29pm]
[ mood | depressed ]

I didn't just quote a Phil Collins song... (well, maybe I did)

Misc thoughts
Sleep... I can't seem to do it.. I haven't gotten more than 5 hours a night in the last week. I'm one of those people who can't function well with 7 hrs. I'm going to drug myself tonight to get to sleep.. if I overdo it though, i feel even worse the next day. Noises also happen quite a bit. Either the front door slamming of the neighbors, or dull sounds coming from the second floor or the stairs in my apt. Sometimes the neighbors slam the door so loud, i can feel it in my bed.

So many of my friends are going, or trying to get back to Japan! I really want to go back sometimes! I'm really happy for everyone ganbaruing so much!!!111one I've already wasurechatta'd a lot.. V_V

I have really long hair right now (shoulder length in places) I might actually need a haircut.. Also, Instead of getting a haircut one of the last times i went to the haircutter, i got highlights instead.. Teri (my haircutter since I was 3 years old) actually wouldn't let me cut it short the last couple of times though.. She said she likes it too much. :-P

I'm overweight.. I need to lose weight.. but.. I'm lazy.. which makes me more overweight! I gained weight during my last semester of school and at the beginning of working at USAA, but I have been able to at least not gain any weight for the last 3 or 4 months. I am going to try to workout in the mornings before work (if I can get any sleep) starting next week, and I shall adjust my diet as well.. I'll see how that works out.

I don't think I want to see Journey this year.. They cut Steve Augeri from the tour and got a replacement when he got a throat infection. (I guess he just couldn't sing Steve Perry's music without injuring himself) hehe.. Now it feels like they are using their 3rd string quarterback. (And I was just beginning to get into Steve Augeri's voice and maybe begin to accept him is the new lead singer of Journey.)

Sara got hired at USAA! Omedetou!

I missed OzzFest this year cause I think I'm the only one who likes that type of music. I can't go a lifetime without seeing System of a Down live.

Sonic ripped me off the otherday!! I got a #1 and they charged me for a burger, tots, and a drink separatly.. so the price came out to over $7 instead of $5!!!! (>____<)

wow, i wasn't kidding when i said misc. thoughts!

4 Day Weekend! [03 Jul 2006|01:53pm]
[ mood | happy ]

I decided to take Monday off, and Tuesday is a holiday! That means 4 day weekend!

Work has been great lately! I have finished all design and I have been developing code for the last couple of weeks! I am also way ahead of schedule on my project work. Hopefully, they keep giving me stuff as I finish them, so I can help to get them back into a situation where they can finish the project on time.

I'm having a pretty good week. I saw Superman. It was a great movie! I also saw The Devil Wears Prada. It kept me entertained, but i didn't like it that much. It was too predictable.

On Friday, I went over to Kevin's house and we had an 8 hour lan party! I had so much fun playing quake 3 on my new lappy! There were 6 of us total, and the other 5 were in Auto Systems at USAA. I was the only Infrastructure guy..

On Saturday, Tony-San and umino came over to hang out. I'm always kinda worried when so many people hang out, cause there is always someone who is unhappy, and there is always someone who is not easy going and had to do things their way, which makes others unhappy. I usually spend more time trying to make everyone happy. I ended up going to a chinese food restaurant for dinner with Kevin, Beth, and Tony. Ozzie, Sara, Preston, and EN all went to Quiznos and Freebirds (since they couldn't agree on a place). I came home and hung out with Ozzie, En, and Tonysan in my room and we closed the door to avoid any further drama. *sigh* But there turned out to be more drama to be had. Tony had left his keys and cellphone at the basketball court and they were missing now. I made a few calls, and I tried to get ahold of someone from the office to see if it was in lost and found, but they were closed and the answering service couldnt help us.. I offered to drive him home to pick up his keys, or let him stay the night at my apartment and he could wait till the morning when the office opened again.
He said that he would wait till morning. In the morning, he found his keys and cellphone at the office! He was able to drive home in the afternoon!

Also, i started watching 6 feet under season 5.. I really like that show!

In other randomness, its been 3 weeks, and my tv isn't here yet.. ;_;

Good Day at work [22 Jun 2006|09:45pm]
[ mood | excited ]

Why do they treat college hires so well at USAA? The world may never know.. All of these free lunches, gatherings on company time. They bought us each a season pass to Fiesta Texas and took us once on company time. We have another outing planned. Today, we went to Dave and Busters.. A bar/restaurant/arcade. The Senior VP of my department was there and he gave us the congratulations on your first 6 months at USAA speech, then they brought out the food buffet thing, and after we ate, he handed out $40 arcade cards to everyone and said "go have fun".. <-- on company time of course.. They are really pampering us. Some college hires have been taken to spurs games and stuff on the company dollar. I went to the rodeo (-_-) but at least it was free and I was sitting court side at the SBC center. I guess it is our "transition from college life to working life" time in our lives, so they want us to have fun..

After Dave and Busters, my friend from work Dereck and I decided to go see Nacho Libre.. It was hilarious! Jack Black's singing was great.

On top of all that, I made a huge breakthrough on my project at work, and I did it with very little help! Work is a lot easier when you don't have a ton of meetings to go to like the senior people do. Only piece of bad news is that since I worked only 38 hours as of today, I need to work around 6 hours tomorrow, which would be till 1:30pm(without lunch). I value my half days on friday.. ^_^

New Toy!!!! [18 Jun 2006|05:32pm]
[ mood | nerdy ]

I have a couple interesting updates. I have made a few puchases and then gotten a few things for free!

So, the score on the laptop war is Best Buy 0, Dave 2000.. As is the price of the laptop that I got for free. This is also the first LJ post on my new Lappy. The back story is simple.. Dave buys laptop in Feb, 2004 with service plan. Best Buy service plan states: If you have a product serviced 4 times in the span of your service plan, you are elegible for a replacement of equal value by todays technology standards. Dave has problems with Laptop DVD burner and has it serviced 3 times and 1 time for something else. Dave gets a new laptop for free. I did buy a service plan for it again of course. How can i not? This is my laptop. The thing that really was crazy to me about it was its bells and whistles.. It has a built in Camera and Microphone and a fingerprint scanner for security..

I also bought a new TV that I plan on using as a monitor/TV. Its a Dell 26 inch LCD HDTV. Too big for a monitor you say? We shall see! ^_^

Work has been good lately too! I am finally starting to do some fun stuff.

6/6/06 (Sigh) I want to see the omen today ;_; [06 Jun 2006|09:12pm]
[ mood | *sigh* ]

Well, it turned out to be a pretty tame day, despite the date.. I was hopin' for a little chaos!

I spent some of the day helping out college interns at work have something to do.. I do this because I know EXACTLY what it is like to be an intern in a big company and to be forgotten.

My manager told me that he wants me to step up my hours from 40 to 45 hours per week.. Good for money(while i am still eligible for overtime), but bad for time and sanity. Its hard for me to spend 10 hours or more at work in one day. Very mentally taxing. I actually wish I had more meetings to go to sometimes.. Less time stairing at a screen.. Also, a senior programmer on my team has quit the company. He's the lead for the project that I am on..... Whats going to happen to my project? >__<

Also, this will most likely be my first year to miss A-KON since I started going what seems a long time ago. The first time, i went with Jamieson, Thomas, and Preston and we had such a great time.. We met Lisa Ortiz and Crispin Freeman and even got to hang out with Lisa Ortiz for a bit. That was I believe A-KON 13 in 2002. Since then, It has become a ritual for me to go with several of my friends and just geek-out, but many of my friends can't make it. I'm also afraid i'm getting too old for conventions. I don't want to be one of those creepy old dudes that goes to convensions that people always stay away from.

I also took my printer back to Best Buy, cause I couldn't get it to work, and my laptop is in the shop AGAIN. Ahh, frustration.. At least I only have to work 4.5 hours on Friday, which means I get out at noon.

I'm watching the Spurs game, which means random thought time [07 May 2006|01:51pm]
Its pretty close, which always makes me nervous. It was during playoff time last year that I got back from Japan, just enough time to see the semifinals and the finals. My parents said that the goodluck of having risachan come visit during the finals last year was the edge that we needed to have them win. I think that i agree with that. We might not be able to win without that luck again this year! :-P

Its Sunday, which means that tomorrow is Monday, which means more work. The project I am on is starting tomorrow, so hopefully I won't be so bored this coming week.

I had Sonic for lunch.. It was alright.. I don't like burgers as much as I used to.. Maybe that's a good thing.

I like it when nuclear is pronounced new-cue-ler. I think its special.

I missed House last Wednesday!! must get it.....

I saw Mission Impossible 3 last night.. It had good action scenes..

Oh Stuff, when will you learn. [28 Mar 2006|08:07pm]
Forgive me LJ, It has been over a month since my last confession.. <-- i feel like such a dork now.. Anyway, there have been a few new things going on..

I had an excellent bday! Although, my pseudo-party had to be rescheduled because I had to "put out a fire" at work. My parents took a bunch of my friends including Ozzi, En, Tony-San, Sara, Preston, and Andrew. They even sang happy birthday in Japanese to me at the end of the meal and gave me icecream with booze in it! (They lit it on fire though, which was a pretty inferno, but makes me think that it burned up all of the alcohol.)

I got some neat things for my bday too. Andrew gave me Dynasty Warriors for the GBA, Sara gave me the ウルフルズ ベストだぜ cd, my Grandma gave me her 1998 Silver Honda Civic with only 11K miles on it, and my parents had the windows tinted, a new stereo installed, new wheels and tires, and had it detailed. Its a really beatiful car now. I also bought myself a few little things. I got myself a Creative Zen Vision:m 30gb mp3 player <-- down with apple.. I also got myself a new dvd-rom for my xbox and a new wireless adapter for my xbox so my xbox can reach it's full potential again. (we can rebuild it.. we have the technology)

Other than that, I've been doing a few other random things.. I won at poker last week for the first time! $25!! yay! And I started up an old hobby again that is uber geeky.. Magic the Gathering.. It's good times though.

My work is full of training recently.. In the beginning of march, i had a hard time.. They were all really busy and didn't have time to train me, so i had nothing to do. Because of that I decided to begin training myself with little programming excercises.. It would take me a day to do what it would take John (my team's lead programmer) 15 minutes to do, but at least I was doing something. Reading code all day does make one tired though.

In the last two weeks, I've been in training classes non-stop. At the same time, an issue came up in b2b, a set of applications that i am now the SME(subject matter expert) for.. This is pretty much because the old guy left and they said, "Dave, learn everything about the b2b servlets and all the stuff that they depend on." Juggling that and training, i am now busy.. It is much better to be slightly stressed out than to be bored. I even got about 46 hours last week. yay, overtime! Just for the record, my two training courses are ILog JRules training last week, and Java Performance Tuning this week. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 40 hours total.. now that's a crash course..

In other news, I am on the wonderful Atkins Diet again. <-- his diet lives on even though he has died.. I am doing pretty well, except for the occasional slip up.. today, i accidently drank a non-diet Redbull to try to wake up so i could pay attention in class and i didn't realize that it was non-diet until i was done. oh well, I am doing pretty well. I won't say how much i've lost, because if i do i won't lose anymore.. <-- its like reading a fortune cookie before you eat it... it won't come true.. Any ways.. There is of course more, but i'm tired of typing, and i'm sure you are tired of reading about my life.. ^_^;

Another week in the History Books [14 Feb 2006|10:07pm]
[ mood | a little under the weather ]

Well, I am officially out of training now. (training that involves other people teaching me things). I have a lot of self training to do now. Everyone around me knows so much, and I am the only one walking around that doesn't seem to know anything. I feel nervous about bothering these super busy people with my elementary questions. Its the only way that I'm going to learn though. They are all really nice and helpful.. Not always very friendly.. They are all really into their jobs.. They get in the groove with their ipods and look like they don't want to be bothered. I wish I could take a picture of my cubicle, which is super neat, but they don't allow cameras into the building. Ahh security.. My first assignment was a high security one. I got the whole talk that this is for my eyes only, and to minimize the window if anyone comes to talk to me.. I finished that little assignment though, and right now, my job is to read technical documents and try to understand them.. I have a lot of questions, and there are a lot of acronyms i don't understand. (I've been told that USAA is the only company in America that has more acronyms that all of the branches of the military combined.)

I found a new karaoke place that not only rocks my socks, but they combust after leaving my foot.. It is run by Japanese people, so their Japanese section is HUGE! It is like a phone book.. <-- much like the japanese selection of the karaoke places in Japan. They have sooo much.. 1 week old stuff to moldy oldies.. And it's only a few miles away!! about a 5 minute drive.. I've already been there twice in 2 weeks.. It reminds me of Japan so much! 懐かしい思いをさせた. I looked for I love Strawberry Sorbet, but it wasn't there V_V.. When looking through the 林原めぐみ section, it made me think of Marie!! I sang all of my old favorites that I did so many times with Eric, Liz, Marie, and Becca..

I went over to Kevin's house the other day, and got to oggle his new 52 inch DLP HDTV. It is beautiful.. His house really looks nice too since he got married. Nice Decorations.. We played some games on the ol' xbox and had some thai food.

I got sick last week.. (icky).. Actually, I am still a little sick, but the worst was last Thursday. I went to the company clinic and got checked out by a doctor.. I had a 101.3 temperature, but I didn't have any PTO (paid time off) so I couldn't go home.. I decided to stick the day out.. I actually worked 9.5 hours that day because that was the day I got my first assignment.. I made sure to keep washing my hands every half hour so to attempt to not get anyone else sick..

Stuff and Stuff!!! [30 Jan 2006|09:20pm]
[ mood | happy ]

Work is good. I have been in training most of the time since I started work. This is a good thing, since I don't really have anything to do yet at work.. They have assigned me to some projects already, but I can't really start doing them until training is over. I could go in after training, but my manager doesn't want me to put in more than a few hours of overtime in every week, not to mention it would suck to work after training. Last week was Intermediate Java, the week before that was intro to OO, and this week is Java Servlets, JSP, and an overview of just about everything J2EE has to offer.

My manager and mentor are really nice, and so is everyone else on my team (although the closest one to me in age is 45 years old.) Almost everyone in training is right out of college though. I got paid for the first time on Thursday, which was nice! I can't really use my money yet though, since it was deposited into my new USAA bank account, and I don't have my current pin. <-- (This is my fault.. I lost the paper..) I have a credit card, debit card, and checkbook, so there are other ways i can spend. Oh, and because of security stuff, i found out that I can't use any external programs at work.. The best I can do to communicate with the outside world is email. <-- which i can answer about 30 seconds after receiving so it is almost like IM. I've also made a bunch of friends at USAA.. All of them are new hires too.

I've been watching Yakitate Japan <-- thanks to Thomas's advice. I love it! It is so funny!! and punny!! Thomas was right to suggest it to me! I saw several episodes when I was in Japan but didn't really understand the puns.. I even had a few Japan while I was in Japan, but I couldn't appreciate them like I could have now.. I had the Melon pan and anko pan.. I'm watching a few other TV shows as well. I've been watching The Shield, 24 (which promises to be a great season!), House (whenever they decide to make a new one (-_-) ), and Lost (which I am behind in but catching up).

I am also participating in a few things at USAA. I have decided to join the Ping Pong club (because any other intramural sport seemed too much for me, and because I love ping pong), and I am thinking about joining either the USAA band or Choir. Probably the band over the Choir, since they want someone with high school or college choir experience in choir. We'll see.

I saw Brokeback Mountain, which I thought was good, but overrated.. It was too slow moving for me. I even got bored in some parts. I did think the story was good and original though. I also saw Underworld II, which I thought was awesome! I'm a sucker for action-packed movies like that with great fight scenes though..

I also went to Anime Fest in Austin on Friday afternoon for a few hours. I just wanted to go to the dealers room, so Sara and I borrowed someone's badge and got in for free for a couple of hours, then Ozzi, Sara and I went to Coco's to eat

OH!! and I went to see the Spurs vs. Timberwolves on Sat. night with Kevin! It was a great game! We were also in the corporate box seats, because my dad gave me the tickets that were given to him. We had complementary food, soda, and beer too.. which was great..

My apartment is very nice now that I have completely moved in. Ian, Sara, and Jami are all really good and considerate roommates. We cook together and hang out and stuff. I'm only 15 minutes away from my parents house, so I can go visit or get some home cooking or something just about any time I want, so yay for that.

New Job update [10 Jan 2006|10:38pm]
[ mood | tired ]

I've been working at USAA for two days now.. Its just orientation right now, so we are getting a ton of information thrown at us. The building is very intemidating because it is about 2 miles long.. Orientation is so boring, but I guess it is necessary. I got my badge thingy and my parking sticker, so I don't stick out there any more.. I just look like a regular employee walking around.. I made a few friends in orientation. One of them, Kim, used to work at Boko's before I did, and she moved to Georges around the time when I got re-hired. Now we are both going to be working in building B. She actually used to have Matt's position. Small world.. Tomorrow is my last day of orientation, and I will be able to report to my manager at 4:00pm to see my desk, even though I've already seen it and met most of my co-workers on the day of the social.

::yawn:: I have to get up early, so I guess I will call it a night. The days are short when you work all day. <-- I already miss college..

Merry Christmas! [25 Dec 2005|10:25am]
[ mood | happy ]

Merry Christmas! I woke up at like 9:30am to an empty house, which is kind of weird. What is open on Christmas? I guess my parents could be going to see my grandma.

Anyways, We had 2 family gatherings. One for my mom's side and my dad's side. My mom's family's gathering happened last Saturday. I spent a little bit of time with my uncles and cousins, but most of the time with my little cousins. Very cute as usual.

(These kids don't know how to not be cute yet) Its Josh, Jake, and Lexie.. <-- I like to call her Lexie Luthor.

Last night, on Christmas Eve, my dad's side of the family came over and we had a nice little gathering. Again, I played with the kids for a lot of the time.

This is Emily.. She's gonna be a rapper in the future.. (either that, or a boxer)

This is Amy, Zack, and Stevey. <-- they are concentrating.. opening presents is hard work.

In other news, I have decided to move into an apartment with some friends. Sara (himekokurai), Ian (introverthigh), and Jamie(sp) <-- One of Sara's friends. The apartment is practically right across the street from USAA, so it's super convenient! We turned in our applications yesterday and we are going to sign stuff on Monday.

Moving Right Along! [11 Dec 2005|02:20pm]
School and Finals:
I demo'ed my project to Dr. Hwang on Friday, and he, of course, wasn't very impressed. He just made me click around for 2 minutes, asked me to show him some source code, database querries, and asked me how many querries I completed.. I said around 11 truthfully, but he doesn't check our projects at all. I could have said 20 and he would have written it down. Hehe, all that work for a 3 minute demo.

I asked for an extention for my document, because I only had around 45 pages. Right now, it is up to 140 pages, and there is still much work to do. I hope to get it close to around 200 when I am done. (Some crazy people had as many as 500 pages.) I am going to have it printed and bounded at Kinkos probably Monday morning before I go to work..

Moving out:

I am scheduled to move out on either Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Pretty much, whichever day is better for umino to help me move!! Thanks again for offering to help me move OzziKun!!
On Monday, my mom might come up and start helping me pack up a little.
Tuesday will be the major packing up day though. My mom and Dad will come up and help me box things up. himekokurai mentioned that she might be able to come up and help us as well on Tuesday. But on Wednesday or Thursday, I will drive the big U-Haul to San Marcos and pack everything up and store it temporarily in my parents garage until I can find an apartment or something.

I can't wait to get back to San Antonio and finally settle in.

How do I know that I'm a dork? [02 Dec 2005|08:05pm]
I asked someone in my class where the Roundrock campus was so I could find it tomorrow to take my final exam, and she said it was exit 256 on I-35.. So how do I know I'm a dork? I instantly memorized that the exit was 256. I told her "Thats easy to remember!! 256 is 2 to the power of 8!" <-- I must be a computer dork to make this association.
